Location InfoSaguaro Lake Ranch

Description

The Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch & Stable started out as a work camp built in 1927 to facilitate the construction of Stewart Mountain Dam which took place between 1928 and 1930.

The main lodge you can see today just a quarter mile from the stable was the mess hall, ice house, and commissary for the construction crew, while workers lived in cabins lining the roadway to the new dam.

The horse trails that surround the ranch were first established in the 1930s by the Lewis family who had bought the property after completion of the dam. They developed more than 20 trails; some penetrating the Goldfield Mountains wilderness, some climbing the Bulldog Cliffs that overlook the ranch, while others explore desert washes and canyons next to Saguaro Lake. You’ll travel some of those same trails on your trail ride at Saguaro Lake Ranch Stable.
